The Apprenticeship Incentive Grant (AIG) is a taxable cash grant of $1,000 per year or level, up to a maximum amount of $2,000 per person.  It is available to apprentices once they have completed their first and/or second year or level (or equivalent) of an apprenticeship program in a designated Red Seal trade.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • A Canadian citizen, permanent resident or protected person;
  • Out of high school;
  • A registered apprentice with a provincial/territorial apprenticeship authority in a designated Red Seal trade; and,
  • Able to provide proof that you have successfully completed either the first and/or second year or level (or equivalent) in a designated Red Seal Trade on or after January 1, 2007.
